Water Infiltration in Building 865: Basement and Lift Temporarily Affected
Over the past few days, following significant rainfall, water entered the basement of Building 865. The infiltration was caused by a temporary reverse pressure in the rainwater drainage system. Normally, this system removes water from the building. However, due to the high volume of rainwater, water flowed back into the basement instead of being discharged.

Initial investigations indicate that two factors contributed to this event:
- Ongoing works at Building 777, where the current water bypass system was not sufficient to divert the large amount of rainwater coming from the fields behind Buildings 864/865 (despite additional pumps installed two weeks ago).
- The absence of non-return (anti-backflow) valves in the drainage system of Building 865.
To mitigate the risk of this happening again, we are working on several courses of action:
- Additional pumps have been installed to immediately relieve the pressure on the drainage system.
- The 777 project team is working on implementing a more robust bypass solution.
- Improvements to the 865 drainage system are being investigated.
Due to the water in the basement, the lift in Building 865 has been damaged. Replacement parts have been ordered but unfortunately the lift will be out of service for the coming time until repairs are completed. We aim to have the repairs completed and the lift back in service as soon as possible, but we will continue to keep you updated on the progress with these repairs.
We apologise for the inconvenience and are doing everything to resolve the issue as quickly as possible and to prevent it from happening again.
Thank you for your understanding.
