Parking Upgrades at Building 867: Enhancing Sustainability and Accessibility

The B777 team is pleased to announce the start of essential upgrades to the parking area around Building 867. As part of this project, several trees—primarily older or lower-quality specimens—will be carefully removed to make way for a more modern, sustainable, and user-friendly parking facility. The work to remove the trees is planned to start on Monday 23rd February, and it is expected to last one week.
While the removal of trees is always a considered decision, this project is designed with the environment in mind. The upgraded parking area will feature grass pavers, which allow for natural drainage, reducing runoff and supporting local biodiversity. Additionally, the final design includes more new trees than those being removed, ensuring a net increase in greenery and enhancing the overall landscape.

The work is expected to proceed efficiently, with minimal disruption to daily operations. Click here for more information about the areas that will be affected. We apologise for the temporary disruption to the parking areas while we work on improving them. CERN remains dedicated to maintaining the beauty and ecological value of its campus and looks forward to sharing the completed upgrades with the community.
