Building 777 Begins to Take Shape

After many months focused on foundations, underground works, and concrete structures, Building 777 is now entering an exciting new phase. For the first time, the future building is becoming clearly visible, with the first façade elements now being installed. The reinforced concrete cores, which will house staircases and technical shafts, have now reached or are approaching their final height. At the same time, the timber structure is growing rapidly, revealing the building’s distinctive curved shape and architectural character.

One of the most visible milestones was reached last week with the start of the façade installation. The first façade elements and windows are now being installed, transforming the appearance of the building and providing a clear impression of the final design.

Construction activity is set to accelerate even further in the coming months. A second construction stream for the timber structure and façade works will start next month, allowing multiple areas of the building to progress in parallel and significantly increasing the pace of construction.

Progress is not limited to the building itself. Extensive work is also underway around Building 867, where additional parking spaces are being created to improve accessibility and provide increased parking capacity for the Prévessin site during and after the construction period.

The project team is pleased to report that construction remains on track, with completion currently forecast for the fourth quarter of 2027. Thanks to the continued efforts of all teams involved, the project is progressing as planned and steadily moving closer to delivering a modern, sustainable, and collaborative facility for CERN.

Building 777 will become a central hub for the Prévessin site, accommodating offices, a restaurant, laboratories, and workshops. Designed as a collaborative and welcoming space, it aims to foster interaction, support innovation, and serve as a vibrant social focal point for the CERN community.

As construction progresses, this milestone represents the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the site, one that places sustainability, functionality, and community at its core.
